Game played on muddy field.  Sabinal player ran onto the field in bare feet.

Interview with Irvin Fowler:  Sabinal called time out and Irvin asked coach if he could take his shoes off.  The coach replied "Yes, if you can stand the sand burrs".  Few plays later, the rest of Sabinal team removed their shoes except for Barnes Hillis who was the punter.   Later in the game, Uvalde removed their shoes as well.
