The Class 3A Devine team significantly outweighed the Yellowjacket squad.  

It was a very exciting game with both teams trading the lead multiple times. 

Devine went up late in the fourth quarter 25-24.  

Sabinal quickly drove back down the field covering 75 yards in two plays to take back the lead.  First, Junior Contreras hit Lupe Hernandez on a 33-yard pass.  Sabinal then ran the “guard-around” trick play.  In the play, Brian Riggs, center, fake snapped the ball to quarterback Contreras who turned his back to defense and ran a sweep to the left with running backs. Ervey Leos, guard, took the ball from Riggs and ran to the right side going 42-yards for the winning touchdown.       

Jesus Ybarra intercepted a Devine pass to preserve the 30-25 Yellowjacket win.
