Sabinal coach Hons Richards had coached at Devine for the prior 1926 season.   Coach Richards of Sabinal came over to Devine, Saturday, and claimed Devine had forfeited the game to Sabinal, because we played a man, a substitute, who had not finished all subjects in grammar school.  Current Devin coach Barkley says he did not know that the substitute was ineligible, and the Devine people think it very unfortunate that our ex-coach, if he intended to challenge the Devine team, which he knew better than coach Barkley, did not so state at the beginning of the game, but after being so badly defeated took advantage of the technicality to claims the game when his team was so overwhelmingly defeated.  The player so challenged is in high school and is making up some extra work which he did not finish last year and was not really needed on our team, coach Barkley says.
